How to Restore and Protect Aircraft Paint with Polish Pro and Air Guard Ceramic Sealant

Fly Shiny Air Guard ceramic spray sealant and Polish Pro paint polish — hydrophobic UV protection and swirl remover for aircraft paint and gelcoat

Quick answer: Restore aircraft paint gloss with Fly Shiny Polish Pro, then lock it in with Air Guard, a spray-on ceramic sealant that protects paint and acrylic windows, makes bugs and dirt easier to remove, and lasts 6 to 8 months per application.

What you'll need

  • Fly Shiny Polish Pro (16 oz) – fine-cut polish that restores gloss and removes holograms, swirls, and light oxidation
  • Fly Shiny Air Guard (16 oz) – spray-on ceramic sealant for aircraft paint and acrylic windows
  • Two clean microfiber towels – one damp for application, one dry for buff-off

Both are bundled together in the Fly Shiny Restoration Kit – Better.

Why aircraft paint needs a polish and a sealant

Aircraft paint dulls over time from UV exposure, oxidation, and the fine swirls and water spots that build up from routine washing. Polish Pro corrects that in a single pass, cutting through holograms and light oxidation to restore gloss. But polished paint with nothing protecting it dulls again almost as fast as it did the first time. That's what Air Guard is for: a spray-on ceramic sealant that bonds an inert, hydrophobic layer over the polished finish. It doesn't just add shine – it changes how the surface behaves. Bugs and dirt release more easily during washes, water beads and sheets off instead of sitting and streaking, and the gloss holds for 6 to 8 months per application instead of fading within weeks. Because the formula is chemically inert, it's safe on acrylic windows as well as paint, so one product protects the whole visible surface of the aircraft.

How to apply

1. Restore the finish with Polish Pro

Polish first to remove any existing oxidation, holograms, or water spots and get a clean, glossy base coat – Air Guard is meant to seal a freshly restored finish, not correct a dull one.

2. Prime a microfiber towel with Air Guard

Take a clean, damp microfiber towel and spray about 10 sprays of Air Guard directly onto the towel to prime it.

3. Wipe onto the paint or acrylic windows

Wipe the primed towel over the polished paint, or the acrylic windows, working in manageable sections.

4. Wipe off before it evaporates

Immediately follow with a dry microfiber towel and wipe off the residue before it evaporates, leaving a clear, glossy, protected finish.

FAQ

How long does Air Guard protection last?

About 6 to 8 months per application, depending on exposure and wash frequency.

Can Air Guard be used on acrylic windows?

Yes – it's inert and safe on both painted surfaces and acrylic windows.

Does Air Guard make the aircraft easier to clean?

Yes. The ceramic layer helps bugs, dirt, and grime release more easily during washes and increases overall gloss.

Do I need to polish every time I apply Air Guard?

No. Polish Pro restores the surface by correcting oxidation and imperfections, while Air Guard protects it. Reapply Air Guard every 6 to 8 months, and only polish again when the finish needs correcting.
